Amy Nichols supports Save the Children
A Scorpion Chilli supported Sowilo Community Highschool student proves herself selfless and indefatigable yet again as she takes on the Save The Children Fund Festival.
Amy Nichols dedicated her time and enthusiasm as a representative of Sowilo Community Highschool at the recent awareness raiser for Save The Children, celebrating their 90th anniversary at Forrest Place in Perth’s CBD on Sunday 3rd of May. The entertainment included a children’s band, face painting, story telling, and art displays - it was seen by all to be a thouroughly enjoyable family event!
A relatively new face in the Sowilo family, Amy has established herself as an active and engaging member of the community, proving herself on several occasions to be a very generous and enthusiastic young woman, undeniably passionate about contributing to society.
Save the Children stands in the face of a less and less caring world to speak out for children's rights, delivering imediate and lasting improvements to children's lives worldwide. Save the Children works towards a world which respects and values each child, listens to, and learns from every child, and a world in which all children have hope and opportunity. The Organisation is making a difference in over 100 countries from emergency relief to long-term development. Save the Children helps children to achieve a happy, healthy and secure childhood. Save the Children secures and protects children’s rights – to food, shelter, health care, education and freedom from violence, abuse and exploitation, by viewing the world through the eyes of children.
Similarly Sowilo Community Highschool has taken on the ground-zero frontline in the fight to better the lives and opportunities for young people in our immediate Perth suburbs community. Often neglected and underestimated, the homeless and disadvantaged of our own affluent community face severe hardships and degredation to match many recognised groups around the world.
The goal of this innovative community highschool is centred around the re-engagement of young people into life long learning, via an alternative, flexible and individualised process. With the aim to prepare these young people for their life journey and to empower them to become creative, responsible adults, Sowilo hopes to help these students to discover their own paths and passions in life, and enable them to make a positive contribution to their community.
Sowilo offers a High School learning environment based on the core values of: Building Community; Respecting and Trusting; Being Responsible; Learning and Having Knowledge; Embracing Individuality; Being Creative and Innovative; Being Flexible.
